Ondrej Lenárd

Ondrej Lenárd ( born September 9, 1942 in Krompachy ) is a Slovak conductor.

Life

After studying at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava began in 1962 as choirmaster and opera conductor at the Slovak National Theatre in his artistic career. From 1984 to 1986 he worked there as chief conductor from 1997 to 1998 as an opera director.

From 1970 Lenárd was chief conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Slovak Radio in Bratislava and from 1993 to 2001 the artistic director.

From 1978 on, he was guest conductor of the famous Japan Shinesei Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo. He became chief conductor and music director in 1993.

Today Lenárd works with internationally renowned orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic and soloists such as Piero Capuccilli and Peter Dvorsky together.

At the Vienna State Opera, the Houston Grand Opera, the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Teatro San Carlo ( Naples), Budapest State Opera, and the Státní opera Praha he conducted already. As a guest conductor he was in Canada, Brazil, the USA and Japan. In 2008 he gave concerts with the Tokyo Philharmonic.

Radio and television

More than 1,000 recordings made ​​for radio, including recordings for OPUS, Naxos and Marco Polo Lenárd. Slovak Television is owned several video recordings of symphonic music with Lenárd.

Prizes and awards

In 1974 he won the prize of the International Competition in conducting in Budapest and in 1998 he received the award Stur. 2002 Lenárd was awarded an honorary conductor of the Philharmonic.
