One country, two systems

One country, two systems (Chinese一国两制/一国两制, Pinyin yì guó liǎng zhì, Eng. One country, two systems) was the official policy strategy of Deng Xiaoping against Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

One country, two systems means according to the official version, that within the People's Republic of China, socialism would be maintained, while Hong Kong, Macau and the Republic of China ( Taiwan ) are likely to maintain their capitalist system for a peaceful reunification.

For Hong Kong and Macao, this specifically means that since 1997 and 1999, the years of the return to the People's Republic of China, the current system another 50 years must be maintained. From the Republic of China, which is de facto independent, is required to reunite under this rule with the People's Republic.
