One of These Days (Pink Floyd song)

October 30, 1971

One of These Days is the first piece on the Pink Floyd album Meddle in 1971 and appeared along with Fearless as a single for the album.

This is an instrumental piece - apart from the distorted playback of words " One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces" ( German: " One day I'll cut you into little pieces " ), spoken by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason. The song was recorded with two electric basses, which were played by David Gilmour and Roger Waters and their sound ( a delay effect unit) has been changed by a Binson Echorec. Waters ' bass can be heard on the left channel of the stereo playback, while Gilmour is heard on the right channel. Gilmour's bass sound a little dull. According to Gilmour was the fact that on the old bass strings were pulled and the roadie who had been sent to get new strings, rather had visited in the time his girlfriend. One of These Days was recorded between 19 and 21 July and from 23 to 25 July 1971 in the Morgan Studios in London, and in August 1971 in the AIR Studios in London.

The title was in 1981 on the compilation A Collection of Great Dance Songs published again and again is included on their 2001 Pink Floyd best-of album Echoes. In addition, it is found as a bonus track on the live album Pulse and renamed One of These Days I'm going to Cut You into Little Pieces, on Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii.

The piece was an integral part of the tour program of the band 1971-1973 and in 1987 and 1994.
