Oneiromancy

Oneiromantie (Greek Oneiros for dream and Mantis for soothsayers ) is the application of dream interpretation for prophecies.

Even in the earliest days of human measure to the dreams of particular importance. A possible interpretation is to consider the dreams as prophecies. In ancient times dealt beside Aristotle and Plato especially Artemidorus of Daldis in his dream book Oneirokritika with the interpretation of dreams and the possibility of prophecies.

In the Bible there are several passages in which God gave people instructions, predictions and promises through dreams or gave them the ability to dream interpretation. And Joseph was in the Old Testament interpret the dream of Pharaoh, and thereby predict the future. Solomon received from God his wisdom in a dream face. Daniel had numerous visions and interpreted the dream of Nebuchadnezzar about the downfall of his kingdom.

At the present time Oneiromantie found mainly in esoteric application.
