Onhaye ( pronunciation: [ ɔɛ ] ) is a municipality in the province of Namur in the Walloon region of Belgium.
The municipality consists of the villages next to Onhaye Anthée, Falaën, Gerin, Serville, Sommière and Weillen.
Partner Municipality of Onhaye is La Bresse in the Vosges. Since 2007, the Belgian politician Christophe Bastin is mayor of Onhaye.
History
During World War II, it came in the context of Onhaye fighting between German and French troops. On August 23, 1914 German troops crossed near Onhaye the Meuse. It came in the night of 23 August 24, 1914, fierce fighting between German and French retreated to Onhaye between units.
Attractions
The castle ruins Montaigle from the 14th century is located northeast of the district Falaën. In 1808 the church Saint -Martin was built in Onhaye.
Personalities
The Belgian physician and writer Adam Gerard ( b. 1946 ) was born in Onhaye.
