Ontario Northland Transportation Commission

The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (Ontario Northland ) is a specialized agency of the Province of Ontario in 1902, performs the duties of transport and infrastructure in Northern Ontario.

Rail transport

Ontario Northland owns and operates a railway network of 1,100 km length. In addition to the use of the network for rail freight and passenger services operated on the following routes:

  • Moosonee - Cochrane ( Polar Bear Express ) 1x daily from Monday to Friday
  • Cochrane - North Bay - Toronto ( Northlander ) 1x daily except Saturdays

The Northlander end of September 2012 was set.

Bus

Ontario Northland operates intercity bus for connecting the sparsely populated Northern Ontario to the more densely populated southern part of the province, as well as feeder lines to the Northlander and Polar Bear Express. As an additional service the transportation of packages in the buses is offered.

Telecommunications

Through its subsidiary Ontera supplied Ontario Northland the eastern part of Northern Ontario with telecommunications infrastructure and services.
