History

The first written mention of Opatovice took place in 1048 along with Popovice Rajhrad, Rajhradice, Loučka, Ořechov and Domašov in the founding document of the monastery Rajhrad as monastic possession. Duke Břetislav the village had previously given to the abbot of the monastery Břevnov for the forthcoming monastic foundation. In the 17th century the village was in a chapel to commemorate the rampant in Moravia 1645-1676 plague epidemic, was spared entirely from the Opatovice built. 1769 burned after a lightning strike down the village with the exception of 12 houses. The ruined chapel was replaced by a new building, the 1772 prelate Otmar Karl Konrad consecrated. Until the mid-19th century Opatovice always remained the monastery Rajhrad submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Opatovice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Hustopeče. 1948, the community was associated with the Okres Židlochovice. After its cancellation came Opatovice 1961 Okres Brno- venkov.
