Opava (river)
Opava ve at Haj Slezsku, Czech Republic
The Opava ( German Oppa, Polish Opawa ) is a left tributary of the Oder in Moravian-Silesian Region (Czech Republic). It arises in Vrbno pod Pradědem in Altvatergebirge by the confluence of three rivers source:
- The Bila Opava ( White Oppa ) originates at Praděd (Altvater )
- The Střední Opava ( Mitteloppa ) originates at the Maly Děd ( little father mountain )
- The Cerna Opava ( Black Oppa ) arises from the Orlik ( Urlichkuppe )
On their way to the East, the Opava flows through the city Krnov where the Goldoppa opens. Their further course has a short stretch along the border with Poland, in the town of Opava, from there through a pond area to the vicinity of the city Hlučín. The Opava finally ends after 131 km at the foot of Hladový vrch (253 m nm) in Ostrava between the districts Hošťálkovice and Třebovice in the Oder.
