Opdenbosch's mangabey

The Opdenbosch Mangabey ( Lophocebus opdenboschi ) is a primate of the family Cercopithecidae ( Cercopithecidae ). It was formerly and is still sometimes performed as a subspecies of Schopfmangabe.

Opdenbosch - mangabeys are relatively slender primates with long legs and a long tail. Their fur is black and longer than that of Schopfmangabe. There is a flat mop of hair, longer on the cheeks back hair at the top of the head. In contrast to Schopfmangabe the back hair is not bent and not gray in color and the head of hair is flatter and not pyramidal.

These animals live in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo and in the adjacent parts of Angola. Their habitat is forests, mainly tropical rainforests.
