Opel Signum

Opel Signum (2003-2005)

The Opel Signum was a vehicle of the car manufacturer Opel, which was produced from February 2003 to July 2008. It was based on the platform of the Opel Vectra C. Its assembly was held in the hall erected in 2002 K170 in Opel 's headquarters in Rüsselsheim.

At comparable total length of the Signum provides by the longer wheelbase of the Vectra station wagon ( estate version ) more space in the rear than the Vectra. The ratio of wheelbase to overall length is 61 percent. These features should lift the Signum as a hatchback version of the Vectra sedans and independent position him as a top model by Opel. Accordingly, the Signum was marketed separately from the Vectra models.

Although the Signum thus belonged to the middle class, it should be filled by FLEXspace called new interior concept, the upper middle class, which was unoccupied by the omission of the Opel Omega B.

The interior concept

The two 130 mm sliding and fully retractable individual rear seats, which recline beyond 30 degrees is individually adjustable, should the convenience of a comfortable sedan offer in conjunction with the advantages of a station wagon. The interior is 8 inches longer than the Vectra sedan and hatchback of the model. The seat of the middle rear seat can be folded and then offers a variety of storage options or is the basis for the optional Travel Assistant - a cooler with two folding tables, storage compartment, cup holders, two 12-volt outlets and remote control for the optional twin- Audio the system. The middle rear seat is released, despite a full-fledged three-point belt due to the low internal height only for people up to 1,75 m height. Vehicles without sliding - lifting roof are equipped with a centrally on the headliner -mounted storage console. The boot volume can be varied depending on the position of the rear seats 365-550 liters (calculated up to the luggage compartment cover ).

Motors

The engines in the Signum do not fundamentally differ from the offered in the Vectra C units - with the exception of the 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, which was not available for the Signum. The Signum Turbo S was the top model and was offered with a 2.8 -liter six- cylinder engine with 184 kW (250 hp). The 1.9 - liter diesel engines were jointly developed by GM Powertrain and Fiat first and later as standard, optionally equipped with a diesel particulate filter.

After the termination of the joint venture, General Motors and Fiat share the rights to the 1.9 -liter engines, the production was based on long-term contracts continue at Fiat. The 2,0 - and 2,2 -liter diesel, however, were an Opel - house development that were not offered from the factory with a diesel particulate filter. The V6 diesel with initially 130 kW (177 PS; September 2005: 135 kW/184 hp) came from Isuzu.

Facelift

After minor facelift in March 2004, the vehicle was optically adjusted to the current design of the brand in the wake of the broader facelifts in June 2005. By changing the length of the vehicle bumper originally grew from 4636 mm to 4651 mm.

Characteristic features of these models are the redesigned front end, the chrome trim and upgraded by new decorative trim interior and the already recently introduced new infotainment generation.

With the release of the revised sign of the 3.2 liter six-cylinder petrol engine was no longer available. The 2.2 - liter gasoline direct-injection engine received a new 6 -speed manual transmission, but was still available as an option with the known 5 -speed manual transmission.

From January 2006 a modernized 1.8 -liter four- cylinder petrol engine with 103 kW was available. This engine was delivered on request with an automated five-speed manual transmission ( EasyTronic ).
