Open Dynamics Engine

The Open Dynamics Engine ( shortly: ODE ) is a free C / C library, which is used for simulating the body dynamics in virtual reality.

The physics engine is considered to be fast, powerful, robust and flexible and has a built-in collision detection. It is developed by Russell Smith and some companies ( further). Thanks to the BSD license (optional is available under LGPL ), it is used by many games and commercial closed-source programs. Examples include Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, Call of Juarez ( Ubisoft ), BloodRayne 2, 18 Wheels Of Steel: Pedal To The Metal and OMSI.
