Open Government Initiative

The Open Government Initiative is a project of the government of Barack Obama to reach an " unprecedented level of openness in Government." The statement to start this initiative gave the President on 20 January 2009, his first day in office.

Philosophy of the Open Government Initiative is that the government should be transparent, participatory and collaborative. Agencies of the U.S. federal government have open government set up websites and invite the public to contribute suggestions and ideas.
