Open source movies are movies that are produced with open source methods and published. Your sources are freely available and the licenses that are used for the films and their source materials that meet the requirements of the Open Source Initiative ( OSI ) with respect to the degrees of freedom of open source works.

The definition is based on the definition of open source software the Open Source Initiative and the definition of free cultural licenses. Movies that do not meet these criteria, are either not open source or only partially open source.
