OpenSkies

OpenSkies (trade name of BA European Limited) is a British airline based in London and based on the Paris-Orly Airport in France. It is a subsidiary of British Airways, leading pure business class flights between Paris and New York City by.

History

The first plans for the British Airways OpenSkies ran under the name Project Lauren. British Airways wanted to reduce the excessive traffic on its hub London Heathrow for flights from Europe to the U.S.. This was possible only through flight connections from other cities in Europe and the United States. The completed in March 2008 Open Skies agreement will enable the connection between each EU and U.S. airport.

BA European Limited received a United Kindom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence, authorizing them to carry passengers, cargo, and mail machines with more than 20 seats. Flight operations began on 19 June 2008 with an inherited British Airways Boeing 757-200. Also in July 2008, British Airways acquired the French airline L' Avion for 54 million pounds sterling, which was fully integrated into OpenSkies early 2009.

Originally, the new airline was planning just pure business class flights for the connection from Paris -Orly to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City to offer. Even before the first flight, the concept was changed and there were three cabin classes introduced ( Economy, Premium Economy and Business). The change was made to the experience of temporarily insolvent companies MAXjet and Eos Airlines, which offered only pure business class flights. In October 2008, the three-class concept, however, was reduced to two classes, which are called Biz Bed and Biz Seat since March 2009.

OpenSkies occurred on December 1, 2012, the oneworld airline alliance to British Airways as an associate partner at. Members of the frequent flyer program, Executive Club British Airways can collect miles with OpenSkies flights. Since the end of 2011 OpenSkies operates as part of the IAG flights in code share with American Airlines and Iberia.

Destinations

The only two routes of OpenSkies currently run twice daily from Paris -Orly to Newark with New York City as well as once daily in addition to the local John F. Kennedy International Airport and back.

The flights to New York were originally only to John F. Kennedy International Airport, but were relocated in January 2010 to Newark. Since March 2013, however, is additionally also New York - John F. Kennedy served on flights to Newark again.

Another link from Amsterdam to New York - John F. Kennedy was set to August 16, 2009 again due to lack of capacity. In October 2011, the line from Paris - Orly to Washington Dulles was removed from the program.

Fleet

As of October 2013, the fleet of the Open Skies consists of three aircraft with an average age of 20.9 years:

The machines each have 114 seats in three categories, two of the Business Class ( divided into 20 seats and 28 seats Biz Bed Prem Plus ) and an Economy Class.
