Opéra de Nice

The Nice Opera (Opéra de Nice) is an opera house in the heart of Old Nice. Besides opera, the ballet and concert divisions there be operated.

History

The Marquise Alli - taught Maccarani 1776 in her former home of a theater named " le petit Théâtre Maccarani " (the little theater Maccarani ) a.

1826 the old building was demolished and the city of Nice was on the same site a new theater built in the Italian style, which a year later under the name " Theatre Royal" (Royal Theatre) was opened.

1871, the theater was renamed due to political upheavals in " Théâtre municipal " (Municipal Theatre).

On March 23, 1881 a devastating fire was created by a gas explosion at the stage ramp and destroyed the theater completely. Around 200 people were victims of the disaster. After four years of construction, the re-opening took place, and the house in 1902 received its current name " Opéra de Nice ".
