Opéra national de Montpellier

The Opéra National de Montpellier Languedoc -Roussillon (usually called the Opéra Comédie ) is an opera house in Montpellier, France.

The Kompagnie was founded in 1755, but the status of a national opera was given only in 2002 by the French Ministry of Culture.

Head of the institution is the Opéra Comédie on the Place de la Comédie in Montpellier. The building was opened in 1888. In addition to the Big House 1200 seats, it houses the concert hall Salle Molière with 350 seats.

Since 1990, performances at the Opéra Berlioz will be presented at the Culture and Congress Centre Le Corum, which has 2000 seats.

As an opera orchestra affects the Orchestre National de Montpellier Languedoc -Roussillon.
