Operation Dragon Strike

Operation Dragon Strike ( German " Dragon Strike " ) was an operation of NATO forces in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan. The offensive began between 19 and 26 September 2010 and ended on December 31, 2010. There were at least 8,000 U.S., Canadian and Afghan soldiers involved, who fought with air support. Originally, the operation to June 2010 to begin.

Objectives

The aim was to expel the insurgents from Arghan dab, Zhari and Panjwai.

Course

It was reported by strong opposition. The main operation was preceded by smaller preparatory actions. According to the U.S. government were also held and efforts on civil and political structure.

The operation was conducted mainly by units of the 101st Airborne Division.

Output

By the end of the operation of many villages had been completely destroyed by the Allies in their clean-up actions.

Victim

There the death of 34 U.S. soldiers, a Canadian soldier and at least seven Afghan policemen was reported.
