Operation Jump Start

Operation Jump Start ( Engl. about " business starting" ) refers to the laying of 6,000 soldiers of the U.S. National Guard to the US- Mexican border. The application is intended to secure, which was ratified by the Senate in May 2006 enlargement of the border fence between the two countries and make the not yet secured by the facility boundary parts for illegal immigration impassable. The conditions for use have been negotiated between the Ministry of Defence as well as the governors of Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas. Legal concerns were arising from a possible mixing police and military tasks ( Posse Comitatus Act ) as well as state and national competencies.

The National Guard should be used as long as the border, until the United States Border Patrol has doubled the number of its officials to 18,000 men.
