Operation Tempest

The Burza action (Polish Akcja Burza; Burza means " thunderstorm ") was a military operation of the Polish Home Army in 1944, shortly before the invasion of Soviet troops on the territory of the second Polish Republic.

Target

The goal of surgery was to weaken on the defense preparatory German units through military actions and sabotage or distribute and engaging Soviet troops to take the opportunity to establish a pro- Soviet government in Poland.

The main directives were:

  • Ending the German occupation
  • To organize weapons for a regular Polish army
  • Re-establish a regular Polish army
  • The administrative, communications, and military industry to rebuild
  • To ensure safety and order in the liberated areas
  • To launch an offensive against the Wehrmacht.

1945

In January 1945, there were smaller military operations in the districts of Krakow, East Upper Silesia, Kielce, Warthegau, Mazovia and Danzig-West Prussia.

Conclusion

Ultimately, only the uprisings in Vilnius and Lviv were successfully carried out. The units but were disarmed and deported by the Soviet troops.
