Operation Zeppelin (deception plan)

Operation Zeppelin was a deception by the Allies in World War II. She was part of Operation Bodyguard, had the task of concealing the real place and date of the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944 before the German High Command, and was organized similar to the more familiar operation Fortitude, the invasion at the Pas de Calais should pretend. With the successful landing in northern France, the operation was obsolete.

The operation should make believe that an Allied landing on Crete, Greece should take place in or on the Romanian Black Sea coast. To this end, the Allies deceived the existence of the 9th, 10th and 12th Army in Egypt by a bogus radio traffic and regular exercises.
