Operculum
Operculum (Latin for " cover " ) refers to a mostly lid-like or enveloping structure in anatomical connection. These include:
- The housing cover some snails - see operculum,
- The fleshy or bony gill cover of fishes,
- And other lid-like structures in a wide variety of organisms - for example, see ascus, stick insects, Serpulidae or pitcher plants,
- The portion of the cerebral hemisphere that covers the island cortex - see operculum (brain),
