Oppenberg is a municipality with 243 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Styria in the judicial district or county Lienzen.

Geography

Oppenberg lies with the two side valleys at about 1000 meters above sea level in the district Liezen in the Austrian province of Styria. Surrounding mountains are the Blosen, high sizes and bulk Kogel.

There are no other cadastral except Oppenberg.

History

The church " Nativity of Mary " with the famous anonymous operation paintings from the 18th century, dates from the 12th century. In the Middle Ages gold, silver and copper mining was carried out. Since 1463 the Augustinian Canons rotting husband had the mountain shelf for all mountain finds this area. The abolition of the manorial system was carried out in 1848., The local church as an autonomous body was established in 1850. Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms came into effect on 1 August 1994. Coat Description: In a Blue zwölfstrahliger faceted golden star with three rays elongated, surrounded by three (1:2) outwardly facing golden foliage crowns.
