Oppershausen

Oppershausen is a municipality in Unstrut Hainich in Thuringia. The community bailiwick is fulfilling community for Oppershausen.

History

In the year 900 Oppershausen was first mentioned in historical documents in Opprechthusen Urkundenbuch Erfurt monasteries and convents. The place was chosen as the first seat of a Frankish count named Eberhard Oppert. In the Frankish origins have also the (former) name part husen out and the type of building, which presents itself with the house gable ends facing the street. It is believed that in the period 531-800 was a Frankish settlement on the site of the present town.

A 1395 by Richard of Sebecke ( Seebach ) built Wasserburg (castle Oppershausen ) to have had a high medieval predecessor. The mansion still preserved today was built in 1754 in the area of ​​water castle. The residential tower was demolished in 1973 due to disrepair, and its stones were used as building material. Foundation walls of the moated castle still exist. From 1408 to 1895 belonged to "lock" and the manor Lords of Seebach, 1918 Anton Knöpfel and son. This 1945 were expropriated without compensation. Attractions
