Opposite Track Path

Opposite Track Path ( OTP) to German about opposite the railway track, is a term from the terminology in the field of optical storage medium DVD. This refers to a method that allows the reader ( DVD player), very quickly change from the first to the second layer (layer ) of a two-layer ( double-layer ) media.

In a two-layer DVD with OTP the track on the first layer runs in a spiral pattern from the center to the outside (like a CD or DVD single ), whereas the trace of the second layer from the outside runs to the inside ( like a record ). Both run so that the DVD must rotate to read both tracks in the same direction. If the DVD is read sequentially (which typically happens when it included video material is reproduced), allows OTP to the player to switch from one to another layer without the reading head must be to proceed to the starting position inside the medium to resume playback.
