Optus

SingTel Optus Pty Limited is the second largest telecommunications company in Australia and a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications ( SingTel ). The company is primarily under the brand Optus, where she also operates wholly owned subsidiaries such as Virgin Mobile Australia and Boost Mobile in the mobile market, Uecomm in the network services market and Alphawest in the ICT sector.

Has to operate and operates Optus both its own network infrastructure, but also uses the services of other network service providers, especially Telstra Wholesale. It provides services both directly to end users as well as other service providers.

History

The company was originally called before privatization since 1981 existing AUSSAT Pty Limited known before it was renamed in 1983 in Optus Communications Pty Limited. 1982, the first telecommunications satellite ( Optus A1) was ordered from Hughes and launched in 1985. 1998, it was renamed for a short time after the takeover of a large part of the shares by the British company Cable & Wireless Cable & Wireless Optus in Pty Limited before it was bought in 2001 by SingTel and received its present name.
