Opwijk is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 13.679 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It consists of the main town, the district Mazenzele and some smaller villages.

Dendermonde is located nine kilometers north-west, Aalst eleven kilometers southwest and the city center of Brussels, about 20 kilometers southeast.

The next highway exits are located in Aalst and Ternat on the A 10 / E 40 and the brussels beltway. The community has a regional station on the railway line Dendermonde and Brussels. The Brussels National Airport near the capital, and located just over 22 kilometers west of Opwijk is the nearest international airport.
