Orahovac

Rahovec ( Albanian: Rahoveci, Serbian Ораховац / Orahovac ) is a city in Kosovo, about 20 kilometers east of the town of Gjakova / Djakovica and 30 kilometers north of the city of Prizren. The city has about 23,200 inhabitants; the greater community, in addition to the city Rahovec includes another 35 villages, has about 73,700 inhabitants.

In the greater community, the Albanians have the majority. In addition to other small groups, the Serbs are the largest minority. In Rahovec they live in the northern, higher part of the city and in Velika Hoča ( Hoca e Madhe ), a nearby village. Other minorities include the Roma and Ashkali or the "Egyptians", they represent the Serbs together just under 2% of the total population Rahovecs. The main economic base of the city is the wine and plastic manufacture.

Linguistic feature of the resort is its Serbian dialect, Oravački that is common to all national groups.

The German organization helping students life is since 2001 active in the place where he runs a youth center with two parts, one in Serbia and one in the Albanian part of town.
