Orange Alternative

The Orange Alternative (Polish Pomarańczowa Alternatywa or Narancs Alternativa ) was a political and artistic movement in Poland.

History and Philosophy

The events are aimed at the prohibition of painting slogans on the walls of houses.

The birth of the Orange Alternative was during the student movements of the early eighties in Wroclaw. As founder applies Waldemar Fydrych, history and art history at the University of Breslau studied.

However, the Orange Alternative achieved fame not only through their events. During the second half of the eighties dwarf graffiti obtained fame and success and are a symbol of the movement. The graffiti was painted on color patches daubed on the regime of freedom and anti- government slogans of the Solidarity movement. They were something special that did distract his way from the gray reality during the time of martial law. Painted on the walls of some dozen cities in Poland, exceeded the number of dwarfs the thousands. It is sometimes spoken in this context from the biggest painting exhibition in Poland, considering the fact that she was seen by several million people.

The activities of the Orange Alternative united always in a socio- political dimension with artistic aspects. Ultimately, it was and is their goal to achieve through aesthetic events in individual style at the same freedoms and revamp the social, cultural and political normality. These goals remain in spite of many historic changes timely and important that has occurred as a result of discussions at the Round Table and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Force and originality of the Orange Alternative in its early days was mainly characterized brought that the bourgeois society of his time was in Poland under a deep anesthesia bell. The Orange Alternative was able to devote problems of "res politica " in an ironic and distanced manner.

Art experts provide in their activities determined an influence of Surrealism or Dadaism. In fact, the movement was also inspired by the Dutch Provo movement and the Kabouterbewegung.

There is something " funny " of the Orange Alternative, combined with oppositional logic against the negative reality in which young people in Poland and abroad a chance in the fight against the gray standstill saw in everyday life and see.
