Orange County (Indiana)

Orange County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Paoli.

Geography

The County is located in southern Indiana, is about 60 km from Kentucky and has an area of 1057 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Lawrence County, Washington County, Crawford County, Dubois County and Martin County.

History

Orange County was formed on December 26, 1815 from parts of Gibson County, Knox County and Washington County. It was named after the eponymous County in North Carolina.
