Orangeburg County, South Carolina

Orangeburg County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Orangeburg.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of South Carolina and has an area of ​​2922 square kilometers, of which 57 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Calhoun County, Clarendon County, Dorchester County, Berkeley County, Bamberg County, Colleton County, Aiken County, Barnwell County and Lexington County.

History

Orangeburg County was formed in 1769. It was named after William V of Orange, son of Prince William IV of Orange and Anne of England, the daughter of King George II of Great Britain.
