Orara River

BW

The Orara River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales.

Geography

The river rises in the hills behind Coffs Harbour in Dorrigo National Park and flows to the northwest, where it flows into Eatonsville, 20 km north- west of Grafton in the Clarence River.

Tributaries with muzzle heights

  • Urumbilum River - 115 m
  • Nana Creek - 73 m
  • Coldwater Creek - 71 m
  • Tallawudjah Creek - 68 m
  • Kangaroo River - 34 m
  • Chambigne Creek - 18 m

Ecology

In recent years, the river suffered from overuse, especially by irrigation projects. In addition, the Orara River serves as the main drinking water source for the city of Coffs Harbour. This led to a Verschluffung of the river and its fish population has declined.
