Orazio Gentileschi

Orazio Gentileschi (* 1563 in Pisa, † 1639 in London) was an Italian painter.

Life

1626 was followed by Orazio Gentileschi was the first Italian painter the reputation of Charles I in England. Until then, he lived in Genoa, sponsored by the Vatican and the Medici family. He was responsible for the design of the Queen's House in Greenwich ( partially relocated to Marlborough House ). Despite its high reputation was his attempt to introduce the Italian style in England, not successful.

Orazio Gentileschi was at times overshadowed by his daughter Artemisia, which is a famous painter was also. But he also was an important painter of his time, the ideas of Caravaggio followed in his style.
