Orchestre National de France

The Orchestre National de France ( French National Orchestra) is a symphony orchestra of Radio France.

It is also known as the Orchestre National de la Radio Diffusion Française ( French National Radio Orchestra ) and the Orchestre National de l' ORTF, where " ORTF " an acronym for Office de Radio Télévision Française is diffusion.

The orchestra was founded in 1934, the repertoire is aligned with Debussy and Ravel. Since 1944, the Orchestra is resident at the Théâtre des Champs- Élysées in Paris, where it is also sometimes used for opera productions. Some concerts are also included in the Olivier Messiaen Auditorium at the Maison de Radio France (also known as Maison de la Radio ). Radio France takes on all the concerts of the orchestra. 2002 Kurt Masur music director of the orchestra since 2008, Daniele Gatti has held this position.

1985 won the recording of the orchestra of Georges Bizet's Carmen, along with the choeurs et Maîtrise de Radio France, under the direction of Lorin Maazel, the Grammy for Best Classical Album.
