Orda Khan

Orda Khan ( † after Abulfeda around 1280 ) was a Siberian Mongol prince, son jochis and older brother of the famous Mongol Khan Batu.

Orda was actually required on the common representation to succeed his father, but he left the somewhat younger Batu this dignity and shared instead with another younger brother, Shibani Khan († 1266 ), the domination of Siberia between the Urals and Irtysh. In the decrees of Karakorum his name was mentioned nevertheless before the Batu.

The prince appeared to the beginning of the 1240er years several times as deputy of his brother, so, for example, according to a statement by Carpini and Rashid ad-Din in the campaign in Poland in 1241 or in the choice Gujuk Khan to the Great Khan 1246th

The name or title Orda is derived from " camp ", cf Turkish Ordu and Tatar Urda.

Little is known about his wives and his children, but many Tatar ruler of the following centuries led to him back: see Orda horde.
