Order of Friendship

The Order of Friendship (Russian Орден Дружбы ) is a state award of Russia, which is awarded to both Russian citizens and to foreigners. The award was instituted on 2 March 1994 by decree No. 442 of the President of the Russian Federation and is regarded as the successor of the Soviet Order of Friendship of Peoples.

The award is given according to statute to persons who have made contributions to the promotion of friendship and cooperation with the Russian Federation in the fields of science, culture, economics and peace.

Description of the Order

The Order shows in its center a stylized globe surrounded by a ring of green olive branches, set in a pentagonal gold star. On the back is the inscription " Мир и дружба " ( "Peace and Friendship " ), and the serial number of the Order. The ribbon of the Order has the colors of light blue and green.
