Order of Kutuzov

The Kutusoworden (Russian Орден Кутузова / Order Kutusowa ) was one of the highest military order of the Soviet Union. It was named after the Russian General Kutuzov.

He was in his third class on February 8, 1943 donated in the first and second class on 29 July 1942 by the Soviet government under Joseph Stalin. The Kutusoworden was intended for the presentation of marshals, generals and officers.

The awarding of the Order of the first class was only on the front and army commanders, their deputies and chiefs of staff. For the award of the Kutusowordens in first class, a well-developed and implemented front operation had to be done, when the enemy is defeated. The second class can be awarded to corps, division, and brigade commanders and their chiefs of staff for special tenacity in counter-attacks of a superior enemy. Order star

The religious character exists in all three classes from a curved Stern -hook medallion, in which the gaps are filled with beam. The basic colors of medal bar ( band buckle) were blue and orange. In the first class the clasp had a 5 mm wide orange center stripe. In the second class there were two, each 3 mm wide, margins. The third class had a central and two edge strips each having a width of 2 mm.

The Kutusoworden First Class was awarded approximately 660 times in the second and third class each about 3,300 times.
