Order of Merit of Rhineland-Palatinate

The Merit of the State of Rhineland- Palatinate, in addition to the honorary citizenship, the highest honor the State of Rhineland -Palatinate.

The Order of Merit was founded on October 2, 1981 by state law. It is awarded by the Prime Minister to citizens of all groups of the population whose extraordinary merits may have been acquired for the public in all areas of life.

The number of carriers in the country Order is limited to 800 in order to emphasize value and prestige of the Order. Death of a religious institution or an order for some reason has been withdrawn, the circle will be supplemented. The ceremony will take place on a proposal from the President of Parliament or of a member of the provincial government.
