Order of Olga

The Olga Medal was founded by King Karl of Württemberg mainly donated on June 27, 1871 to honor women who had distinguished themselves in the German - Prussian War of 1870 /71, the care of wounded soldiers. According to the Order Statutes, as they are printed in the State Manual 1892, the Order of Merit on the field of voluntarily helping love in war or peace is awarded as a token of appreciation and remembrance, without distinction to men, women and virgins.

The religious character is a matt silver cross with expiring trefoil arms and hook red cross. Standing on the obverse of the middle plate devoured the first letter of the name of the King and Queen KO (Karl and Olga ) on the lapel of the year numbers 1870, 1871.

The ribbon is black moire and edged carmine and is worn by men in his buttonhole, while ladies wear religious cross on a loop of ribbon on the left chest.

He is not to be confused with the 1889 for services to the Red Cross donated Karl- Olga Medal.
