Order of Osmanieh
The Osmanje Medal ( Ottoman: Ottoman Nişanı ) became more important by Sultan Abdulaziz on his accession in 1861 to reward, donated the Ottoman empire services rendered. Purpose of the Order was to be the award of earned military personnel and officials, but also by scientists and artists. Officials and military officers with at least 20 years of loyalty to the state were preferred. At the ceremony official fees were always paid, whereby military personnel and foreigners were excluded.
Order of classes
When setting up the Order, there were three classes. 1867 made amendments to the Statutes and the religious classes were expanded to four.
Order decoration
The religious character consists in a six-pointed golden, green enameled star with golden edging and silver, brill -guaranteed beams in the corners and on the peaks were small golden balls inserted. In crimson enameled green -lined central shield are in gold, the Turkish words: The chosen one by the grace of God our Lord Abdul Aziz Khan, ruler of the Ottoman Empire, as a sign of peculiar merit; on the back is for the first three classes in gold, for the fourth in silver the national coat of arms. The order depends on a golden crescent moon and a golden six-pointed star and gang.
For all classes of this Order is the same, only the gold is held back for the third and fourth grade in silver.
Ribbon and carrying method
The green ribbon was a carmine red stripes on both sides.
The first class was wearing the Order as a sash over the right shoulder toward the left hip side. The first and second grade was still part of a religious Stern same appearance on the left chest to do so. The next classes made him the neck orders, while the fourth class was in rosette shape him as a breast star, or in his buttonhole.
The breast star, the first on the left and second class carries on the right is achtspitzig, brilliant and made of silver; in the central shield is the inscription with a crescent moon.
