Order of Sant Jordi d'Alfama

The Order of San Jorge de Alfama was an Aragonese Knights.

1201 Peter II of Aragon founded in honor of St. George the Order of San Jorge de Alfama Alfama. The first members came from the ranks of the Order of Calatrava. The Order of the Knights Templar received goods and the Crown of Aragon. The Order was recognized by the Holy See until 1363.

History

Life in the Order were organized according to the rules of Augustine of Hippo. The Order conquered by the Moors from Valencia cities Ademus and Castellfabib back. Under Alfonso VIII of Castile, the Order took part in the attack on the Balearic Islands and also took part in the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa. With the recognition by Pope Benedict XIII. he was united in 1400 with the Order of Montesa. The new order was now called the Order of Montesa and San Jorge de Alfama.
