Order of the Baobab

The Order of the Baobab (German Order of the Baobab Tree ) is a South African Order of Merit, which was gestitftet in 2002 and is awarded by the South African President to civilians. It is awarded in the categories of business, science and volunteering.

The Order is named for the baobab tree and consists of three elements: the baobab tree standing in traditional African culture for longevity; a regular nonagon, which symbolizes the nine provinces of South Africa and the various ways of contribution to society, and a wreath of bark of the Baobab.

Order of classes

All three classes are worn as a medal around his neck, they exist beyond a lapel pin.
