Order of the Crown of Thailand
The Order of the Crown of Thailand, with full name The Right Honourable Order of the Crown of Thailand ( Thai: เครื่องราชอิสริยาภรณ์ อัน มี เกียรติยศ ยิ่ง มงกุฎไทย, English:. The Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand), is a high royal Thai Order.
History
The Order was instituted on December 29, 1869 under the name of Order of the Siamese crown by King Chulalongkorn as a general order of merit and is awarded to both Thais and foreign dignitaries for their services to the Kingdom. 1932, with the renaming of Siam in Thailand, the name of the Order was amended accordingly.
Insignia
Originally founded as a breast star in four classes, the Order in 1873, divided into five classes. The number of members was limited thereby.
- Knight Grand Cross with 40 members
- Grand Commander 100 members
- Commander 200 members
- Follower to 400 members
- Member without limitation
By amendment of statutes of 1889, the order was for two classes - a gold and silver medal - expanded and simultaneously repealed the regulation of members. 1918 was carried out by King Vajiravudh the foundation of a special stage, and in 1941 the creation of a department for men and women. The Order has since been awarded in eight classes:
- Knight with Großkordon (special stage)
- Knight Grand Cross with ( 1st class)
- Grand Commander (2nd class)
- Commander ( 3rd class)
- Follower ( 4th class) corresponds to international officer
- Member ( 5th grade ), corresponds to internationally Knight
- Gold Medal ( 6th grade )
- Silver Medal ( 7th grade )
The medal decoration is a round star with alternating red and green lotus leaves as a double edge. Above is an ornament for the wearing ring. The round central shield has a golden field. The front shows in engraving the Siamese royal crown with arranged right and left seven -stage parasols.
On the back of the award, the central shield has the king 's initials " จ ปร ," short for " มหา จุฬาลงกรณ์ ป รม ราชาธิราช " ( King Chulalongkorn the Great). The special stage is made of gold, all other classes are made of silver.
Carrying method
The special class is supported on an indigo -colored sash from the left shoulder to the right hip and the Grand Cross on a blue sash from the right shoulder to the left hip. The breast star is respectively attached on the left chest. Grand Commander and Commander bear the distinction of being neck Order, the Grand Commander in addition with a slightly smaller chest star. Officer, knights and support of the coin are decorated on the strap on the left chest. On the tape of the officers a rosette is applied in addition.
The breast star is formed of green and red enameled lotus leaves wreath. In the center is a blue enameled medallion to see that is surrounded by a circlet of precious stones and is dominated by the Thai royal crown.
The ribbon of the grades one through eight is blue with narrow red, yellow and green verges. In the special stage, the ribbon (like the sash) is indigo colored with red and white side stripes.
