Order of the Iron Helmet

The Order of the Iron Helmet was a Kurhessischer of Military Merit and was founded on March 18, 1814 by the Elector Wilhelm I for participants in the wars of liberation against France in three classes

The decoration is a black, succinct in Brabant silver cross made ​​of cast iron, the center front of the open helmet. On the left and right arm of the cross, the letters WK, below 1814.

The religious character had with his foundation in the form of a trefoil cross was, however, changed in 1815 into a broad -ended cross. It is made of cast iron and is surrounded by a silver border.
