Order of the Medjidie

The mecidiye Medal ( Ottoman مجیدی نشانی Mecîdî Nişanı; ugs mecidiye Nişanı ) was an Ottoman military and civil order of merit and was established in 1852 to reward the services that were provided for the imperial government, donated by Sultan Abdülmecid.

Order of classes

It consisted of five classes with the number of members, with the exception of foreigners was limited:

  • First Class - 50 owner
  • Class II - 150 owner
  • III. Class - 800 owner
  • Class IV - 3000 owner
  • V. Class - 6000 owner

Order decoration

The religious character consists of a gold medallion with the Tughra of Sultan, surrounded by a purple tire with the motto zeal devotion loyalty. From the medallion go from seven brillantierte beams, between which lies a golden crescent with the star. Above the decorating a large golden crescent with a star. The Order is worn on a purple grüngeränderten band.

Carrying method

The First Class was worn on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip as well as with a breast star. The II and III. Class decorated as a neck order, the second class in addition wore a breast star. IV and V class were worn on the ribbon on the left chest.
