Ordinary (officer)

In the Catholic Church, the term professor referred to Can. 134 § 1 CIC the Pope, the diocesan bishops and other head of a particular Church, as well as those that hold in this general ordinary executive authority ( vicars general, episcopal vicars ), as well as those superiors of clerical religious institutes of pontifical right and of clerical societies of apostolic life of pontifical right, the least possess ordinary executive power.

Local Ordinary is to Can. 134 § 2 CIC, a professor within the meaning of Can. 134 § 1 CIC, with the exception of the Upper of religious institutes and societies of apostolic life (→ Personal professor ).

The authority of a professor, especially a local bishop is called the Ordinariate.
