Between this race and the debut of the two used LC70 chassis were converted to the ORECA 01. Because the changes were so massive, the vehicle was re- homologated, accordingly also got a new name. Right off the bat Nicolas Lapierre and Olivier Panis drove the 1000 km race at Spa on the fourth place. The second car was heavily damaged by an accident of Bruno Senna. Senna, Stephane Ortelli and Tiago Monteiro were thus for the 24- hour race at Le Mans a new vehicle, but the car had to be abandoned with a technical defect. The older cars in the hands of Lapierre, Soheil Ayari and Panis, however, drove to fifth place overall. In Algarve, however, Senna and Monteiro surpassed the best result and ended the 1000 km race on the podium. The race at the Nürburgring was omitted in favor of the Petit Le Mans at the end of the year. In addition, ORECA appeared at the last championship round of the Le Mans Series at Silverstone with only one vehicle. Lapierre and Panis drove the ORECA 01 for the first overall victory of the season. End of the season at Road Atlanta in the American Le Mans Series alongside Nicolas Lapierre and Olivier Panis Romain Dumas were reported. On rainy race weekend of the Petit Le Mans, also came to the factory teams from Audi and Peugeot. Due to the onset of heavy rain, the race had to be terminated prematurely, the driver trio of ORECA was therefore counted in fifth place, behind the four diesel vehicles, the factory teams, but as the best prototype gasoline engine before the championship leading Acura ARX -02. The Silverstone vehicle, however, was brought to the end of the year to Japan to take part in the two 500 - km race in the Asian Le Mans Series.
