Oregon City is a city in Oregon and the county seat of Clackamas County. It lies on the southern edge of the Portland Metropolitan Area off Interstate 205 and has 31859 ​​inhabitants ( 2010).

History

Oregon City was founded in 1829 as the site of a sawmill on the Willamette River, belonged since 1845 as the first city west of the Rocky Mountains to the United States and was until 1851 the capital of the Oregon Territory. Here in 1846 was published the first American newspaper west of the Rocky Mountains. The city was for a time the center of the fur trade and the Methodist Mission.
