Oreste Giorgi

Oreste Giorgi Cardinal ( born May 19, 1856 in Valmontone, Rome, Italy Province; † December 30, 1924 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Oreste Giorgi received his philosophical and theological formation at the Pontifical Roman Seminary. He received on 21 December 1878, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked in Rome as a lecturer in the formation of priests. From 1889 he took duties in various departments of the Curia. In 1903, he became the canon of the Lateran Basilica, Papal Prelate House and Apostolic prothonotary. 1907 he was appointed by Pope Pius X. to undersecretary of the Congregation for Bishops, 1908 Secretary of the Congregation Council. Pope Benedict XV. took Oreste Giorgi on December 4, 1916 as a cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Santa Maria in Cosmedin in the College of Cardinals to.

Oreste Giorgi Cardinal took part in the conclave of 1922. In 1923 he was charged while maintaining its titular church of Cardinal Priest. 1924 Pope Pius XI appointed him. Titular Archbishop of Ancyra and gave him a bishop. In the same year dedicated Oreste Giorgi Cardinal as Papal Legate two churches in the Holy Land. He died on December 30, 1924 in Rome and was buried in Valmontone.
