Orestes of Jerusalem

Orestes was Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem. First Basilian in Southern Italy, he was - probably on the suggestion of his sister, a concubine of the Fatimid Caliph al - Aziz - 986 appointed Patriarch of Jerusalem. In 1000 he was a member of a diplomatic mission to Constantinople Opel to negotiate peace with the Byzantine Empire. He died there probably.
