The Andenkärpflinge, Titicaca toothcarps or South American Goodeids ( Orestias ) are a genus of the family of killifish. Older classifications they put into their own family Orestiidae. They are 9 to 22 inches wide, elongated predatory fish that are mainly characterized by the absence of ventral fins. Their diet consists of zooplankton. Many species of this genus are by foreign fish become rare due to pollution and Faunenverfälschung. One type - the Amanto ( Orestias cuvieri ) - is probably extinct.
